thanks! I think it was maybe 5-6 hours. I don't know exactly it is part of a graphic for book cover so I worked also on some ornaments and in between painted this one.

Oh, this looks fantastic! I agree with pepperw; great dynamic pose and colour.
Really love this image.

If you always assume that Windows Update is going to decide to restart your computer while you're afk and erase all your documents, you'll never be disappointed!

sweet piece, i like the positioning... is it drawn on paper and then colored or just pure photoshop?

how did you do the texture for the background?

*usesless info ahead in [brackets]

[i was just watching a show about how scientists think the greeks and roman got their ideas for their creatures of myth, and they said there was this specific dinosaur that had a beak and a bone structure that raise above its spine that made a flap like a stegosaurus and they thing they misinterpereted the bones as wings and came up with the gryphon]
:iconperzo:
Thanks! It was first drawn on paper (small sketch), and then colored in Photoshop. The texture is hand painted on paper with acrylics (I created few of these and use them on every painting)

Incredibly deformed in anatomy, but hey! The colors saved it. :)

i like to play with the brushes in painter to get a good texture, then i go into photoshop and use the pattern maker to make it into a tile that is 300 x 300 pixels, it works pretty well but i havent had a chance to use them on anything yet

not sure if you've ever tried that, im just adding some suggestions for the future
